Woodland Presbyterian Church is a congregation in East Memphis, Tennessee, that welcomes, knows, and forms people at every stage of faith into followers of Jesus Christ. Whoever you are, and however you got here, we're glad you're here. Through faithful biblical preaching, worship that answers what God has done, authentic relationships, and real opportunities to serve, we help one another take the next faithful step. We believe the local church is where lives are changed, hope is renewed, and ordinary people are equipped to carry Christ's love into the world.

Everything at Woodland is shaped by a single calling: to help disciples grow so they may better serve a hurting world. As a church in the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), we are a part of a faithful tradition of communities striving to know Jesus and make Him known. Since Woodland was planted in East Memphis in 1953, we have prayerfully worked to serve our community and cultivate meaningful lives shaped by the redemption Jesus offers.

Authentic Worship

Woodland Presbyterian invites the congregation to respond to God’s goodness to us through an order of worship that guides us into God’s presence each week. Every aspect of our service is a genuine answer to something God has done. He invites; we come. He shows us our sin; we confess, and He assures us of His gracious pardon. He restores us to Himself, so we pass His peace to one another and respond with our offerings and prayers. He speaks through His Word; we sing, because it's a story worth singing. Then He sends us out in His blessing, back into the story He's lovingly writing in and through us. The order isn't a script we perform at Woodland. It’s the honest shape of a people answering their God as He moves toward us.

Intentional Discipleship

We don't leave spiritual growth to chance. At Woodland, discipleship is a deliberate path that begins by grounding us in the Gospel and sends us out to serve a hurting world. 
Rooted Groups are small, relational groups of six who work through Growing in Christ over thirteen weeks together, building a shared spiritual, relational, and theological foundation. When we all have a grasp of what God has done for us and the purpose He has given us, we can move forward together. From that rooted foundation, we cultivate. 
Cultivate Groups send Woodland members out to know and love those both within and beyond our walls through small groups of members and non-members building genuine relationships while working through topical curricula for those exploring or reconstructing faith, as well as studies on grief, vocation, and blended family life, and Bible studies for growing believers pursuing a deeper relationship with Christ.
This is the shape of intentional discipleship: rooted deeply enough to be sent freely, formed by the Gospel so we can help others cultivate Jesus-shaped lives.

Earnest Prayer

We believe prayer is not a formality but the lifeblood of the church. Prayer is the way a people who depend on God actually lean on Him. That conviction takes concrete form in our prayer ministry. Whatever you're carrying, whether that’s a crisis, a quiet burden, or a joy you want to give thanks for, you can bring it to a team that will hold it before God on your behalf. Simply email your request to prayer@woodlandpres.org. Every request is kept confidential and entrusted to a loving prayer team who will pray for you faithfully. You don't have to carry it alone.

Whoever you are, and however you got here, we couldn’t be happier to see you. Woodland is a church that loves each and every person who walks through our doors, with all their stories, questions, and burdens. Woodland Presbyterian is a genuinely warm, honestly welcoming, and deeply loving community for people in every stage of life and spiritual development. That love takes shape in real life action. Through our Care ministry, we walk with people in the hard seasons and the joyful ones, showing up, following up, and bearing one another's burdens the way a family does. You matter here.

Joyful Missions

At Woodland, mission isn't a duty we grudgingly fulfill. It’s a joy we get to share. The good news of Jesus is too good to keep to ourselves, so we send it outward with gladness: into our city, across borders, and among those who have never heard it. Our partnerships reflect that joy, reaching from South Memphis to Honduras to the least-reached peoples of the world. Whether it's clean water and medical care in Central America, home repair and community development in our own neighborhoods, or gospel movements among the unreached, we get to partner with organizations doing faithful, tangible work. Unreached Missions

The Philemon Project — early childhood development for poor, migrant, and refugee children in Lebanon
World Outreach — the EPC's mission-sending agency, focused on the least-reached, especially among Muslims
Global Friends — a campus ministry welcoming and serving internationals in Memphis
Operation Broken Silence — empowering the Sudanese people through gospel-driven programs
